mountain vista

Telluride, Colorado

Located on a prominent slopeside property within Mountain Village, this project consists of an extensive tear-down and new construction of a single-family residence over the previous foundation. Sited on a northern ridgeline, window and door openings frame both intimate and expansive views of the near and far landscapes. Along the south, a two-story glazed atrium flanked by multiple tiered decks, capture vistas of Telluride Resort and the mountains beyond, including Sunshine Mountain and Wilson Peak. In optimizing the thermal envelope and tailoring the whole-building energy demand, the client was able to utilize a high-efficiency, electric heat-pump and forgo the typical gas-fired boiler for the primary heat source.
